Konkan Railway Project

Image
Designed and built by Indian engineers in a record time of eight years, the Konkan Railway takes you on a breathtaking journey through rugged mountains, lush valleys, sunlit paddy fields, bustling villages and glistening rivers that lead out to sea. Heralding the realization of a long-cherished dream of the people of the Konkan region, the construction of Konkan Railway effectively connected the southwestern coast of India with the rest of the country in a point-to-point straight line. It is undoubtedly one of the biggest and most difficult infrastructure projects India has undertaken and successfully completed since Independence. Today, the Konkan Railway travels 738 kilometers through the states of Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka, starting just after the Roha railway station (75 km south of Panvel in the suburbs of Mumbai) in Maharashtra and ending at the Thokur railway station near Mangalore in southern Karnataka. The tale of how Konkan Railway was designed and built is an int...

Influence Lines - General Theory

Construction of influence lines for one span simply supported and cantilevered beams in case of direct and indirect load applications are considered. All influence lines are constructed using analytical expressions for required factor. Applications of influence lines for fixed and moving loads are discussed. This chapter forms the set of concepts which creates a framework for comprehensive analysis of different statically determinate structures. 📍Definition: Influence line is a graph, which shows variation of some particular function Z(reaction, shear, bending moment, etc.) in the fixed cross section of a structure in terms of position of unit concentrated dimensionless load P = 1 on the structure. ANALYTICAL METHOD FOR CONSTRUCTION : The engineering structures are often subjected to moving loads. Typical examples of moving loads on a structure are traveling cars, trains, bridge cranes, etc. In classical structural analysis, the term “moving load” requires one additional comment...

LODHA WORLD ONE

Lera Engineers   The world one, the tallest residential building in the world is at mumbai, India.  It is a 280.2 m (919 ft) . The tallest building in india  is 7.1-hectare (17.5-acre) site of the defunct Shrinivas Mill. The site also houses two other lower towers: World View and World Crest. Rising majestically above the City and the Arabian sea Storeys high, World Towers stands as the tallest residential tower in the world.  Never before has and perhaps never again will, a structure of such monumental significance emerge, that too in the very heart of Mumbai-India's gateway to the world. But  World One ‘s iconic status cannot only be attributed to the sheer scale of its structure. It is a symbol of our times, a reflection of India’s stature on the global stage and a tribute to the collective vision of the greatest talent. In an unprecedented move, legends from across the globe- the finest names in design, architecture and lifestyle se...
